3 Key Essentials To Start The Day

“How you spend your morning can often tell you what kind of day you are going to have.” — Lemony Snicket

3 Ways to create more energy in your mornings: Mornings are such an important part of the day and how we start can make a world of difference. These are three things that I’ve noticed over the years that give me the energy to start each day with a bang.

1) Meditation

Meditation, without a doubt, has had a huge impact on my mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing. It calms the mind, creating a space for blissful peace to flow freely through me, to become present and centred. There have been copious amounts of research over the years showing the incredible benefits of meditating daily. Meditation has been a part of Indian culture as well many other cultures for thousands of years.

2) Movement

Movement has always had a place in my life, whether it be dancing, running, yoga – it’s what helps my mental wellbeing best. It not only gives me energy, but also allows me to work through challenges to realise and understand my strengths and weaknesses and help build upon them. It always leaves me feeling uplifted and ready to take on anything.

3) Whole foods

Moving away from processed and packaged foods was a complete game changer for me, it opened up a world of new foods to explore and of course feel their nutritional benefits.

It might seem like an obvious statement to eat more whole foods but sadly our supermarkets, the domain for most to do their weekly or daily shops, are rife with packaged and processed foods with refined sugars and salts making it far too easy to make poor choices.

Shopping at farmers’ markets, organic bulk foods stores, local independent grocers and even growing your own seasonal produce can be the first step to a lasting habit to eat better, more consciously and in turn contributing to safer and sound environment.

Eating a varied whole foods diet is the best way to get plenty of nutrients, antioxidants, and fibre in your diet, giving you the best foundation for optimal health and energy.
